iOS 4.2 cripples the Camera Connection Kit functionality big time

From the title of the post it's pretty clear that the arrival of iOS 4.2 is not all good news even though
it brought some useful features such as multitasking (for iPad), AirPrint, AirPlay and so on.  So here is the latest crime committed by iOS 4.2.1 update - it has crippled the functionality of the Camera Connection Kit.
With iOS 4.2, Camera Connection Kit isn't playing nice with all USB sporting devices (camera and so on) like it used to do with iOS 3.2.2. Here's a detailed discussion of the said issue:
The essence of the issue with the connection kit and iOS 4.2 is that connected devices that require power of more than 20mA will no longer work. That means that many USB keyboards (Apple’s included) will no longer work with the iPad, as well as USB flash drives. When the user connects a device that is not self-powered and requires more than 20mA of power from the iPad they get the following alert: “The connected USB device requires too much power.
It's worth mentioning here that Apple introduced the Camera Connection Kit when they launched iPad with the primary intention of providing means of connecting digital cameras and SD cards. The genius iPad users found out that the very same dongle could be used to connect keyboards and cameras.
