launched a host of other things including free apps for mobile and PC devices. As of now, Amazon is all set to launch a new web app version of the infamous Kindle.
This timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as Amazon’s launch of its own new web app is hot on the heels of Google, which has just launched its own e-reading platform and bookstore, called Google E-Books. Amazon will definitely be coming up with some pretty big changes so as to compete with Google, as its platform is certainly unique and interesting in many ways. This new web app by Amazon can just might be the answer.
An Amazon rep has said that this web app will:
Enable users to read full books in the browser and any website to become a bookstore offering Kindle books
So then again, it is proved that Amazon wants to do exactly what Google has presented users with through its own platform. However, it is to be noted that the previous version of Kindle for Web, that’s the proper name for this app, was not that good, considering the fact that it allowed users to only read first chapter previews of books online.
Kindle has been a huge hit, be it the hardware or the software, as currently there are apps available for the iPhone and the iPod touch, the iPad and Android. There are also Kindle desktop apps for the PC and Mac, apart from the fact that the Kindle hardware is one of the best selling devices. It looks like the competition is getting really tough between web-based e-booksellers, Google and Amazon.
