getting some great reviews and more and more companies are developing apps particularly for Google’s signature mobile operating system. Being on the subject of Google, the internet search giant is bringing a major update of the Google Map App for Android phones. Android chief Andy Rubin told some features of the new app at the D Mobile conference. Read on below to find out more.
This major update for the Google Map App on Android will definitely be awesome, as it will render map images considerably faster, it will incorporate 3D buildings, it will also offer offline caching and will use the compass to orient the map.
This new app is powered by a dynamic map rendering engine, which will draw maps as the user uses them, ensuring smoother transitions while zooming in and out of different levels. This dynamic rendering will also make it possible for the app to start showing 3D building as the user zooms into the street-level view, while using the touch screen, the user will be able to tilt and rotate the map and buildings.
The maps will load considerably faster because of the fact that they will require 100 times less data each, as instead of downloading an entire map image for a particular level, the app will download meta data which will describe the entire map at all different levels and will then move to rendering the needed sector almost instantaneously. A map of an entire city may also be cached on a phone; turn by turn navigation in Google Maps will also be able to be used offline as the app will recalculate the route without requiring a data connection again. The app will also use the compass on Android phones to automatically flip the orientation of the map to the person holding that particular device.
The features for the new Google Maps App for Android are utterly awesome and will certainly make navigation on Android phones via Google Maps a breeze. Let us hope that this update comes out soon enough.
