Google Editions; The Book Store By Google Is Launching Soon

We live in a world where portability is the utmost concern of all people, anywhere in the world. People feel the need
to carry all of their favorite stuff, be it movies, pictures, songs or even books with total ease, but doesn’t the idea of carrying so much around in your backpack seem less appealing? For exactly that reason, we have devices these days which make it easier for us to carry our passions digitally. Now, Google has made the move towards digital content, a book store by the company which is being anxiously awaited.
It is high time that Google made this move, as e-readers are gaining popularity with people of all age groups, and why would they not, as e-readers makes reading your favorite books, magazines and newspapers flawlessly simple. This book store by Google, which is initially destined to release last year, is called Google Editions, and is now said to launch before the year 2010 comes to an end, at least that is what the Wall Street Journal reports.
No doubt, popular services like Apple’s iBookStore and Amazon’s Kindle store have already established their name in this area, however in order to present a clear clash with its competitors, Google brings something new and unique to Google Editions. The previously mentioned stores, allow their users to simply download their books via one online store, but Google seeks to change that as it will let users buy these books either from Google or any other independent bookstore that they might want to, and then can tie the books to their Google account, ensuring a new level of portability as users will then be able to access their books from anywhere in the world and on any device that they want.
Google product management director Scott Dougall says that Google Editions will launch by the end of 2010 in the U.S. and by the first quarter of 2011, the service will launch internationally. He adds:
Because of the complexity of this project, we didn’t want to come out with something that wasn’t thorough
The ultra portability that Google Editions will offer to its users is indeed something unique to this arena, we only have to wait and see how much it attracts people towards the service. Are you excited about Google Editions? Let us know in your comments below.
